Employee stabbed inside Stop & Shop in Hyde Park, 1 person arrested

BOSTON — One person has been arrested after a store employee was stabbed inside a Stop & Shop in the city's Hyde Park neighborhood on Thursday night, police said.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the stabbing, police said. His condition was not immediately known.

Police, who did not release the name of the person arrested, said the suspect will be charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The stabbing occurred after some sort of altercation involving the employee, the company said.

In a statement, Stop & Shop said:

"We can confirm that our Hyde Park store, located at 1025 Truman Parkway, is currently closed following an incident that occurred around 7pm tonight. One store associate was injured during an altercation and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Stop & Shop is cooperating fully with police as they investigate what occurred."

Boston Police responded to the supermarket at 1025 Truman Parkway after the stabbing around 7 p.m. Thursday.

The store was closed Thursday night as police investigated.

Two people were being questioned by police.
