Teen in critical condition after motorcycle collides with vehicle in Waltham

WALTHAM, Mass. — One person is in critical condition following a crash involving a motorcycle.

Waltham Police Sgt. William Gallant tells Boston 25 News the crash happened around 5:25 p.m. on East Main Street in Waltham.

Gallant said a vehicle and a motorcycle were traveling east on East Main (Route 20) when the vehicle began to make a U-turn. The motorcycle collided with the car.

One of the operators was taken to Newton-Wellesley Hospital in critical condition and then transferred to a Boston area hospital. The other operator was transported for observation.

Gallant says the female driver of the car is a 52-year-old from Roslindale and the motorcyclist is a 17-year-old from Waltham.

Police are looking into whether or not speed was a factor.
