Pedestrian fatally struck by commuter rail train in Somerville

SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Transit police detectives are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed in Somerville on Friday afternoon.

At approximately 1:00 pm, Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond in the area of Beacon Street for a report of a person possibly struck by an MBTA commuter rail train.

Multiple units responded along with the Somerville Fire Department and EMS.

A male, whose age is unknown, was struck by an outbound train.

He was pronounced dead as a result of the injuries sustained.

Foul play is not suspected.
