Pedestrian dies after crash in Mashpee

MASHPEE, Mass. — A woman died after being hit by a vehicle in Mashpee early Wednesday morning, according to the Mashpee Fire Department.

Michele Poirer, 59, was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital after she was hit, but officials said she later died from 'severe injuries sustained in the accident.'

The Mashpee Fire Captain told Boston 25 News Tuesday night firefighters responded to Falmouth Road around 9 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

The department was unable to fly the victim via MedFlight due to weather concerns.

No other individuals were taken to the hospital from the scene after the crash.

One person was in the car involved, which was stopped at the scene.

Mashpee Police Chief Scott Carline said investigators were still working to determine details of the collision.
