Patriots Patrick Chung pleads not guilty to cocaine possession charge

LACONIA, N.H. — Patriots safety Patrick Chung has pled not guilty on a charge of cocaine possession. He was indicted in New Hampshire, a source tells Boston 25 News.

Authorities said Chung knowingly possessed cocaine on June 25 while in Meredith and a Belknap County grand jury charged the 32-year-old on Aug. 8.

Chung waived his arraignment that was scheduled for Aug. 28 after pleading not guilty to the charges on Monday.

A lawyer entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

His next court appearance is for a dispositional conference on Nov. 8 in Belknap County Superior Court in Laconia.

The Laconia Sun reports town records show that Chung owns a lakeside residence in Meredith.

Chung has not played in any preseason games and the team would not answer questions about his status.

Chung has played for the Patriots for nine of his 10 NFL seasons, winning three Super Bowls.
