Package sent to Sen. Shaheen's Manchester, NH office not deemed a threat

A suspicious package sent to Senator Jeanne Shaheen's office in Manchester, New Hampshire was determined to not be a threat, according to the Manchester Fire Department and a statement from Shaheen.

The department said they received a call from the staff at the office about concerns over a suspicious envelope, which they had not opened.

The department responded and made a quick assessment, elevating the response and calling for the New Hampshire State Police Bomb Squad to check out the item.

The squad determined the package was not a bomb, with no radiation or anthrax present.

Once the most serious possible threats were eliminated, the department says they determined nothing suspicious was in the envelope, and the only threat from the package was the unspecific wording on the outside of the envelope.

Both Manchester Fire and Police cleared the scene, and Shaheen tweeted that she was "very grateful for the quick and thorough response" from the departments.
