More than 50 blasting caps recovered at Conservation Park in Scituate

SCITUATE, Mass. — More than 50 blasting caps were recovered from areas along the banks of the North River at the Conservation Park in Scituate, police say.

Scituate Police confirmed around 1:45 p.m. on Friday that there was an investigation that led to the closing of Conservation Park, as police and fire officials worked on scene.

A community advisory alerted residents to be mindful of "possible detonation cord and blasting caps which could be washed up on the shoreline."

Scituate Police and Fire Departments, along with the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, recovered the blasting caps, and performed a small, controlled detonation on site around 5:40 p.m.
