• ONLY ON FOX: NH mother pushes for new trial for son in murder-for-hire case

The mother of a man implicated in a brutal murder-for-hire plot in New Hampshire is pleading for her son's release.

FOX 25's Bob Ward sat down with Lorraine Brooks for an exclusive television interview. Her son Jesse was convicted in 2008 of taking part in a murder conspiracy that his own father was behind.

Jesse Brooks is serving up to 30 years in prison for his alleged role in the brutal murder of Jack Reid. Reid, who worked has a handy man, was lured to a Deerfield home in June 2005 on promises of a job. He was beaten to death inside the home.

His father, John Brooks, a multi-millionaire, nearly received the death penalty after reportedly hiring three men to kill Reid.

Lorraine thinks her son was the victim of an overzealous prosecution and a weak defense. She says she has unearthed new evidence that proves her son is not guilty and is fighting for a new trial.

In 2011, the New Hampshire Supreme Court unanimously upheld the convictions of both Jesse and John Brooks.

This week, Jesse Brooks' lawyer filed a motion for a new trial.

FOX 25 reached out to the New Hampshire Attorney General's office for reaction. They say New Hampshire authorities will be making their statements in court.
