New North Station pedestrian tunnel opening in December

Commuters heading in and out of North Station frequently got some welcome news Wednesday, as the MBTA confirmed a new pedestrian tunnel would be opening up in December.

Luis Manuel Ramirez, the CEO and general manager of the MBTA, tweeted the news Wednesday afternoon, saying the tunnel would provide a "direct connection" between the commuter rail stop at North Station and the Orange Line and Green Line stops.

Construction in the area has forced commuters to travel across the street to get from the Orange Line and Green Line towards the TD Garden and commuter rail, and the new tunnel will provide relief for travelers as the winter weather hits.
