3 officers, suspect, hospitalized over white powder

Three Massachusetts police officers were hospitalized after being exposed to a white, powdery substance that turned out to be meth during a traffic stop.

Police say two officers became light-headed and dizzy after they were exposed Thursday night in Spencer, and a third was hospitalized as a precaution. The driver of the car was also treated. All are expected to be OK.

Authorities say the traffic stop was treated as a hazmat situation. The white substance was later identified as methamphetamine hydrochloride.

The officers' clothing, gear, the police station, the cruisers, and the suspect's car have been cleaned and cleared.

This incident is still under investigation and police anticipate bringing charges.

No names were released.
