Multi-alarm fire burns in Cambridge Sunday morning

A building fire broke out early Sunday morning on Van Norden Street in Cambridge, according to the city’s fire department.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at 8 Van Norden Street at 6:16 a.m., with the fire escalating to three alarms shortly thereafter.

The blaze began on the first floor of the home, but the cause of the fire is still unclear.

Three residents were evacuated from the house safely, along with one dog that was treated by firefighters. A second dog that also lived in the home did not make it out of the fire.

One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, but did not have to be rushed to the hospital.
