• Michelle Carter's attorneys file appeal with SCOTUS

BOSTON - Attorneys for Michelle Carter have filed an appeal with the United States Supreme Court, according to the Cataldo Law Offices.

Carter is in jail serving a sentence after she was convicted of manslaughter in the death of her former boyfriend, who committed suicide.

Massachusetts highest court upheld her involuntary manslaughter conviction earlier this year.

Carter's lawyers had said they would consider all legal options, including an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. They said they continue to believe she is not responsible for the July 2014 death of Conrad Roy III.

The trial judge found Carter caused Roy's death when she instructed him to get back in a truck filled with carbon monoxide.
