Police in New Hampshire say couple with dementia found

BEDFORD, N.H. — A missing husband and wife from New Hampshire who both have dementia were found in upstate New York after their car became disabled and came to a rest, police said Friday.

Police in Bedford, New Hampshire, said earlier that Norman Lepine, 79, and Shirley Lepine, 77, were last seen traveling together on Interstate 90 in the area of Waterloo, New York, on Thursday night by New York State Police. That happened before the release of a report that they were missing.

A spokesman for Bedford police said the Lepines were found after their car became disabled and came to a rest on the side of a road in Stephentown, New York. Credit card transactions showed they were as far west as Corfu, a total of 460 miles from home. They were not hurt, but were taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The couple's daughter saw them last at their Bedford home Wednesday afternoon. They don't own a cellphone.

Police in Massachusetts and Vermont also were notified.
