Mass. voters looking forward to Tuesday night’s presidential debate

QUINCY, Mass. — Down by the water at Wollaston Beach in Quincy, you could hear people talking about the election as they strolled by.

On Monday it was cardio for some, but tomorrow night schedules are set.

They will be watching the first presidential debate featuring President Trump and democratic nominee Joe Biden.

“I’ll be tuning in," said said a man out for exercise along the beach. “I’ve been looking forward to this since this was announced, the opportunity to see this two personalities spar on stage is going to be amazing.”

A loyal Trump supporter told Boston 25 News:

“Absolutely I’m going to watch it’s important to watch a debate to see who you are going to vote for”.

John Cleverius. Ph.D Political Scientist at UMass Lowell says the national debate platform may have plenty of viewers, but does little to move polls.

“What debates do is focus voters who haven’t been paying attention,” said Cleverius.

In this election, voters are tuned in at unprecedented levels.

Paying attention and powerfully dedicated to one side.

“What’s really happened in the course of this election is that people already have their minds made up,” said Cleverius.
