A man was taken to the hospital after a reported stabbing in Methuen, according to Methuen Police.
Police initially said the man was stabbed on Ashton Place Sunday afternoon, and said the suspect originally fled from the scene.

In an update a few minutes later, police said the suspect, described as a 5-foot-10 white female, had fled in a blue Chevy Malibu with New Hampshire license plates.

Methuen Police Chief Joseph Solomon later said the woman had returned to the scene of the stabbing, and said the investigation into the incident was ongoing.

Solomon later said the incident and the resulting injuries were deemed to be self-inflicted.

Police said the man was transported to the hospital, but there was no word on the extent of his injuries.
