Man struck and killed by Commuter Rail train in Rockport

ROCKPORT — A 24-year-old man from Rockport was killed after being struck by a Commuter Rail train in Rockport Wednesday night, police said.

Rockland Police were notified by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority at 7:38 p.m. Wednesday that a Boston-bound train struck an adult male near the area of Piggery Crossing.

The name of the man is not being released at this time, pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

No foul play is suspected.

The MBTA Police and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit are investigating.
