Man robbed by woman he met on dating app

Two people were arrested when a man said he was robbed after meeting a woman he met on a dating app, Worcester police said.

Officers were called to the area of 63 Endicott St. on Jan. 23 around 10 p.m. and spoke with a 27-year-old man who said he recently met the woman on the Meet Me app and had agreed to pick her up on Millbury Street.

The victim picked the woman up as arranged, and she told him to pull over a short distance later. When the vehicle was pulled over, a masked man approached the vehicle, opened the door and threatened the victim with a knife.

The robber instructed the victim to hand over everything he had. The victim handed over his cell phone and a small amount of marijuana. While the masked man fled the area, the woman stole about $300 from inside the vehicle before exiting and fleeing the scene.

Worcester police said they were able to determine that the masked man and woman worked together to set up the robbery, and after an investigation they identified the masked man as David Perez, 29, of Worcester and the woman as Erin Gonzalez, 23, of Spencer.

Worcester police located Perez and Gonzalez on Millbury Street on Friday afternoon and they were arrested.

Both are expected to appear in Worcester District Court Monday on masked armed robbery and assault with a dangerous weapons charges.
