Man flees police, ends up in woman's backyard in chase caught on surveillance

Some residents in Fitchburg had quite the Monday morning when they were woken up to a police chase unfolding in their backyards.

And for one neighbor, it was literally in their backyard.

A man fled on foot after being pulled over by police, running through a neighborhood and right into someone's house -- and then eventually ending up in someone's backyard.

The whole exchange was caught on surveillance camera from a woman's home near the intersection of Worcester and Granite Street.

At around 4 a.m., the footage shows police officers searching the yard with flashlights.

Officers ended up arresting the man who had two warrants out. Witnesses watched as police dragged the man towards the cruisers as he resisted. Police said he was very difficult, and as the footage shows, he kept falling down so they had to drag him.

Though police have the suspect in custody, some officers ended up losing the keys to their cruisers during the intense chase.
