Man driving stolen car arrested after violent struggle with police

BOSTON — Boston Police have arrested a 25-year-old Dorchester man after they found him driving a stolen car.

On Tuesday night, officers on patrol in Dorchester saw a car driving on Kenberma Road that had been reported stolen out of Malden. Officers approached the vehicle and talked to the driver, identified as 25-year-old Malik Johnson-Mignott, who told them he didn't know who the car belonged to.

Police say Johnson-Mignott then opened the driver's door and tried to get out of the car. Officers told him he was under arrest and said he immediately became combative and violently resisted their attempts to handcuff him.

During the violent struggle, police say Johnson-Mignott punched and gouged officers in the face.

He was finally taken into custody and will be arraigned on charges of receiving a stolen motor vehicle, assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest.
