Man carjacked at gunpoint in Weymouth; suspect caught driving from scene, police say

WEYMOUTH, Mass. — Weymouth Police made one arrest and are looking for a second suspect after they say a man was forced out of his car overnight at gunpoint.

Weymouth Police said they got a call just after midnight about a man knocking on doors who said his car was stolen at gunpoint and he needed help.

Police said the man told them he was on Broad and Middle streets when a male suspect opened his car door, pulled a gun, and asked him if he wanted to die.

The victim of the carjacking told police he started running away and saw a gray Infiniti directly behind his car, with another man inside, that he believed the suspect got out of. The victim then ran away and tried to get help, according to a police report.

A Weymouth Police officer spotted the victim's car following the Infiniti nearby on Main and Winter streets. The officer attempted to pull over both vehicles and after a brief pursuit onto Route 3, the carjacked vehicle stopped, the police report says. Police say the second car was registered to Garvin.

Police arrested the driver, Jacob Garvin, 25, on charges of armed carjacking. He is being held without bail and is set for a dangerousness hearing on October 9.
