Quincy man, 29, arrested in connection with June 14 homicide in Dorchester

BOSTON — A Quincy man has been arrested in connection with a homicide earlier this month on Devon Street in Dorchester that claimed the life of a 59-year-old man, officials announced.

Lalance Smith, 29, was arrested Monday in Waltham on charges of murder, armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm, Boston police said in news release.

Police responded to reports of a shooting on June 14 at an apartment at 107 Devon St. and found 59-year-old Arnold Woodrum with gunshot wounds. He later died at a local hospital.

Police have not released any information publicly on Smith's connection to the homicide or if he knew the victim.

Smith was arraigned Tuesday on the aforementioned charges where a judge ordered him held without bail. He will be back in court on July 25.

Woodrum's killing was the city's 18th homicide of the year.
