Malden man guilty of strangling girlfriend to death with dog leash

WOBURN, Mass. — A Malden man has been found guilty of first degree murder in the strangling death of his live-in girlfriend.

Leah Penny was found strangled with a dog leash in the couple's home in 2017.

In a Middlesex County Courtroom Thursday, Ryan power was found guilty of the murder.

Prosecutors said Power left Penny’s body at the base of the stairs in the house they shared and called his mother to have her pick up the couple’s children.

The defense told the jury to pay close attention to the evidence presented and go beyond what seems obvious.
