Needham Street in Newton reopened day after major water main break

NEWTON, Mass. — A major water main break that shut down Needham Street in Newton on Wednesday afternoon has been repaired.

Water was restored around 7:30 a.m. Thursday as officials worked to open the roads back up for traffic. However, delays are expected as final repairs are made.

Newton's Department of Public Works said many homes and businesses in the area were left without water for hours.

Multiple agencies worked to contain the leak and clean up the area.
