Working like a dog: Norton pup lands hotel-reviewing gig

An adorable pup from Norton has been picked as the first ever canine critic for the booking website Hotels.com.

Lenny, a 7-year-old Boston Terrier, will spend 10 nights in pet-friendly hotels around the world. His owner, Joe Freni, gets to pick the hotels he and his four-legged friend are pampered at. Freni will then write a review of their stay from his pooch's perspective.

More people than ever before are bringing their pets with them on vacation. Research by Hotels.com found reviews of pet-friendly hotels has jumped by 62% in the past two years.

Lenny was named after Leonard Nimoy, of "Star Trek" fame, because of his Spock-like ears and his parent's love of the actor.

"I am living my best life with my family and live each day to the fullest, going on adventures with dad, playing frisbee, dock diving, and when I'm not playing and adventuring, I'm in the show dog ring," according to Lenny's Facebook page.

Lenny even competed in the 2019 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, the most prestigious of all dog shows.

"When his entry was drawn, we knew we’d found the perfect hound for the job, as he was travel ready with his trusty googles, backpack and lunch money," Hotels.com said in a statement sent to Boston 25 News. "Lenny, alongside his human Joe, will stay in ten pet friendly hotels that were all winners in the Hotels.com Loved by Guests awards Best for Pets category. He’ll be testing out all the doggie delights they have to offer and giving each one his paw of approval."
