Car split in half after driver smashes through Honey Dew Donuts shop

WORCESTER, Mass. — One person was hospitalized after the car they were driving smashed through a Honey Dew Donuts shop in Worcester late Thursday night, leaving behind a trail of serious damage.

Emergency crews responding to a report of a crash in the area of Gold Star Boulevard just before midnight found a vehicle that had barreled into the coffee shop, according to the Worcester Fire Department.

Parts of the car could be seen strewn throughout the interior of the store and outside of the building. Video also showed a gaping hole in the side of the shop.

The driver miraculously walked away from the crash with non-life-threatening injuries, including minor lacerations.

Fire officials noted that Gold Star Boulevard is “notoriously” difficult to navigate.

Power and gas to the shop have been shut off, and it will be closed Friday for repairs.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
