2 Mass. police officers deliver working laptop to boy whose computer wouldn’t turn on

RUTLAND, Mass. — Remote learning has presented a number of challenges for schools and parents alike, but two Massachusetts police officers came to the rescue of a student when his computer wouldn’t turn on.

Central Tree Middle School administrators say a mother emailed them on Monday to report her son’s computer wasn’t working. She said she was unable to help him because she was at work.

“Welcome to the school year 2020/2021 where thinking out of the box is the new norm,” the school posted on Facebook. “[We] love our connection to the Rutland Police Department and how they are always willing to support us.”

School administrators later learned the boy was actually at his grandparents' home in Holden.

Officer Grover passed the Chromebook off to Holden Police Officer Jonathan Santimore, who delivered the computer to the boy.
