Widow of fallen Weymouth Sgt. speaks out on police reform

It's been two years since Seargent Michael Chesna was killed in the line of duty. As Massachusetts lawmakers debate a sweeping police reform bill, his widow is speaking out.

It was a Sunday when Chesna, a six-year veteran of the Weymouth Police Department confronted a suspect in a hit-and-run crash. Police say he was hit in the head with a large rock and then shot several times after the suspect took the officer's gun.

The man has been charged with his murder.

As protests continue across the nation, Chesna’s wife Cindy took to Facebook saying her family has witnessed enough hatred in the world and doesn’t want her children to grow up in a world where police are vilified.

Lawmakers have until the end of the month to finalize a police reform bill and get it onto the governor’s desk. They recess on July 31.
