Waltham native part of first all-female navy aviation team to conduct flyover at Super Bowl LVII

The Super Bowl flyover is a tradition during the game. This year, the Navy will make history by having an all-female navy aviation team to conduct the flyover

Among those pilots is a Waltham native who will be part of that history.

Jacqueline Drew will the pilot of one of the planes flying over State Farm Stadium on Sunday.

The historic moment of an all-female crew will honor 50 years of women in naval aviation.

According to the Navy “The formation will be composed of an F-35C Lightning II from the “Warhawks” of Strike Fighter Squadron VFA- 97, two F/A-18F Super Hornets from the “Flying Eagles” of VFA-122, and an EA18G Growler from the “Vikings” of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 129.”

“It is really a privilege to have a job that constantly challenges you, forcing you to adapt daily to accomplish whatever task you are executing., Drew said.

“The Navy provides the opportunity to meet people from unbelievably diverse backgrounds and create some very lasting relationships. It is never lost on me how unique it is to fly, and being a pilot is a very cool way to spend a day at the office,” Drew added.

Drew also enjoys Skiing, backpacking and watching sports.
