Stores, highways, busy ahead of pre-Christmas storm

BOSTON — The coming pre-Christmas storm is forcing people in the Greater Boston area to change their pre-holiday plans.

The big storm, which is causing major problems in other parts of the country, is expected to bring gusting winds and heavy rain to the area just days before Christmas.

“Everyone is out in full effect, I think everyone is also preparing for the storm and getting ready for the holidays,” said Jamie Smart of Framingham

Roshni Parikh of Framingham added, “Tomorrow is going to be the worst of the days. I wanted to get it done before the rain comes. The rain and the wind start.”

It’s not the rain or the wind that concerns shoppers, it’s the possibility of power outages and the potential for a Dark Christmas

Paula Taylor’s shopping cart is full, she is ready.

“I got it done today vs tomorrow. Usually, I’m a last-minute shopper,” said Taylor

The highways are getting busy too..

The storm forced many to start their holiday travels a day early.

“I’m just picking up my son, he’s returning back,” said MD of New Jersey. “He was trying to come tomorrow, we said no tomorrow is not good.”

“I’m going home to Connecticut. I’m going home to see my brother, and stay in the house I grew up in. I’ve always learned from all the Thanksgivings, you gotta hit the road early, especially with a storm coming, so, I took the day off, got on the road,” said Patty Caffrey of Boston.
