Police: Remains found in trash outside Revere apartment building were those of baby girl

REVERE, Mass — Massachusetts State Police have revealed new details regarding the human remains discovered in a heap of trash outside a Revere apartment building Tuesday night.

The arm that a building resident found inside a bag belonged to a female infant who was white or light-skinned, according to MSP spokesperson David Procopio.

Police responded to the apartment building at 86 Dolphin Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night after Isaias Anibal called in his grim discovery.

“I saw the arm, and hand, and fingers, and then I called 911,” Anibal said.

Video from the scene Tuesday night showed a large emergency response as state police and Revere police detective scoured the area for evidence. Troopers assigned to the state police crime scene services section were also called to the scene.

On Wednesday, detectives lead Anibal back to the very spot on the left side of his apartment building where he found the trash bag.

Anibal said he first noticed a large trash bag here a week ago.

When he moved it to put it into a trash barrel, he told me he saw a second smaller bag and he couldn’t believe his eyes.

“When you first saw that baby, did you think that was a baby? Or did you think it was something else?” Boston 25′s Bob Ward asked him.

“No, I think it was an animal. Because I couldn’t believe a baby like this. I never see this before,” he said.

No one knows how long that trash bag was in that yard, but all day Wednesday, police were going door to door in the neighborhood, checking on home surveillance cameras.

Meanwhile, back on Dolphin Avenue, people want to know who is responsible for leaving a baby here.

The gender determination was made after a post-mortem examination Wednesday. Officials have not yet determined the cause of the baby girl’s death.

“Whoever did this needs to turn himself in, don’t be a coward. Don’t be a coward. That’s a little infant.

That’s a helpless little infant,” said Leah Singer of Revere.

The investigation is still under active investigation by MSP and Revere Police.

Anyone who may have information regarding the grisly discovery is asked to contact detectives at 617-727-8817.
