6-year-old girl found safe after missing for hours in Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. — A little girl is safe after a massive search effort in Lowell Tuesday night. Lowell Police received a report that the six-year-old girl was walking by herself Tuesday afternoon.

Around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon, police say the girl was seen walking in the area of Stackpole Street by herself. She was wearing a black shirt, pajama pants and pink slippers. The search effort for her was so large, that Lowell police wrote on their Facebook page letting residents know that officers and K-9s would be in neighborhoods throughout the city, knocking on doors and checking wooded areas.

Fortunately, about five hours later, Lowell Police announced the girl had been found safe. But Wednesday morning there are still many questions surrounding the incident. We’ve reached out to get those answers and will bring you updates as we get them.
