DA: Father and son dead after double shooting Friday night in Framingham

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — A father and son died after a late-night shooting Friday at an apartment complex in Framingham, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.

Just after 11:30 p.m., shots rang out near Second and Beaver Street at Pelham Apartments. James “Manny” Wade, 45, and his son James Wade, 24, both of Framingham, died, according to officials. The son died at the scene, while the father died at MetroWest Medical Center. Officials said they weren’t residents at that apartment complex.

A woman who didn’t want to be identified told Boston 25 News that she saw the men laying on the lawn outside of her front door.

“I’m just worried for my children, that’s it,” she said.

On Saturday morning, a man who tried to light a candle and start a makeshift memorial at the scene said what police told him.

"They just told me the father and the son got killed, he said. He also didn’t want to be named, but said that the men who died were his relatives.

Neighbors said the area is known for open-area drug deals, but police and the DA didn’t comment on the circumstances surrounding the shootings.

Framingham Mayor Yvonne Spicer released a statement on Sunday regarding the shooting, saying:

As many you are aware, there was a shooting late Friday evening that resulted in the death of two men. This is still an active investigation, and it is the practice of the District Attorney’s office and the Police Department to take the lead on issuing statements in such incidents. While this was an isolated incident, nevertheless it is violence in our community. Neighbors were quick to alert authorities when they heard gunshots which resulted in immediate response by our Police Department. The police spent yesterday searching for and gathering evidence, as well as following up on leads. Based on investigative work by our police department, we have learned this was an isolated incident. There is no eminent threat to residents in Framingham. I want to thank our Police Department and Chief Trask for their swift response and steadfast effort in the investigation. I also want to thank our District Attorney Marian Ryan for her partnership. As a community, we have to be diligent and acknowledge that violence will not be tolerated in Framingham.
