Driver arrested after spike strips bring pursuit to end outside Duxbury police station

DUXBURY, Mass. — A officer deployed spike strips in front of the Duxbury police station to bring a pursuit to an end Saturday evening, Chief Steven McDonald said.

McDonald said two of his officers were conducing radar on Lincoln Street around 10 p.m. when a pick-up truck sped past them going 60-miles-an-hour, well over the posted speed limit.

The officers turned on their lights and sirens and tried to stop the driver, but they said he refused to stop. The driver continued onto Mayflower Street and headed toward the police station.

“The vehicle was observed operating erratically and dangerously,” McDonald said.

A sergeant who was at the police station deployed spike strips as he spotted the truck heading his way. The truck drove over the strips, which caused the tires to safely deflate.

The officers quickly arrested Brian Price, 27, of Marshfield. He’s charged with failing to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license for OUI, failing to stay in marked lanes and speeding.
