Outdoor coronavirus testing site set-up in parking lot of The Shops at Chestnut Hill

NEWTON, Mass. — An outdoor coronavirus testing site has beet set-up in the parking lot of the The Shops at Chestnut Hill in Newton, according to an email Mayor Ruthanne Fuller sent to residents.

The testing site opened Friday afternoon is being operated by One Medical, a primary care practice in Boston.

The site is only open to One Medical members, Newton first responders and essential emergency support personnel who aren’t working remotely, according to Fuller.

Newton residents who meet the testing eligibility requirements can also be tested by signing up for a free one month One Medical membership by calling 1-888-ONE-MED1 and pressing 2 for assistance.

The appointments are scheduled in ten minute intervals, although each test only takes between five and seven minutes.

One Medical plans to conduct 50 tests per a day.

Anyone who wants to be tested must make an appointment.

The testing site is open Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

“I believe that expanding the amount of testing is a critical need right now in our efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19,” Fuller stated.

As of 6 p.m. Friday, 127 Newton residents had tested positive for coronavirus.
