Bitter blast of weather didn’t deter Patriots fans during Bills game

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The chilly weather didn’t stop Pats fans from packing the parking lot outside Gillette Stadium leading up to the big Thursday night game against the Bills.

“We’ve been doing this for awhile, I have 19 layers on I’m almost too hot,” said Samantha Saperstein, tailgating outside Gillette Stadium.

Seasoned tailgaters know how to prepare for wind chills below freezing.

“When there’s a big gust of wind, stand by the tent, make sure it doesn’t tip over,” said Saperstein.

The wind was the biggest challenge for tailgaters Thursday.

It was so strong a tent went flying.

“So it’s picking up the front of it and it took it and snapped, we had it tied down in the front and it actually snapped the legs and went over the truck like a parachute,” said Rob Casa, a Patriots fan.

But no matter the elements, this was a must-see game for many Pats fans.

Some say it was one of the biggest games of the season.

“Nothing that will keep us from tailgating at Foxboro no matter what it is, wind sleet snow, we’ll come here no matter what we make do with what we got,” said Jamie Vecchione, a Pats fan.

Pats fans now have a bit of a break before seeing the Patriots play in person again.

The next home game at Gillette Stadium will be Christmas Eve against the Cincinnati Bengals.
