NH Airman dies in non-combat related accident at Kuwait base

BOSTON — The Department of Defense announced on Wednesday the death of an Airman at the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.

Staff Sergeant Ronald J. Ouellette, 23, of Merrimack, New Hampshire, was killed on Sept. 14 following a single all-terrain-vehicle non-combat related accident on the flightline at the base. Officials say the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

He was assigned to the 42nd Aerial Port Squadron, Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts.

U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan issued a statement following Ouellette’s death, saying:

“I am devastated to hear about the passing of Staff Sergeant Ronald Ouellette, and my thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Staff Sergeant Ouellette served his country with honor and represented the best that our state has to offer. His service will never be forgotten, and I am profoundly grateful to him, and the many other Granite Staters and Americans who have given their lives in order to keep the rest of us safe, secure, and free. May he rest in peace.”
