Police investigating after 3 homes broken into in Belmont

BELMONT, Mass. — Belmont Police are asking the public to be on high alert after three homes were broken into early Monday morning.

The houses were located on Adams Street, Madison Street, and Watson Road.

Investigators say the suspect is travelling through back yards to get from house to house. The suspect is then cutting screens to gain access to the homes through an open window or unlocked doorways. Once inside, the suspect is targeting electronics and other valuable items.

Belmont Police have stepped up patrols in the area but are urging residents to lock their doors at night and keep their valuables in a safe or hidden area.

Officers also recommend to stay alert for:

  • Someone parking in front of your house and then walking down the street or around the corner.
  • A stranger walking around your or your neighbor’s house or in their back yard.

Anyone who observes any activity which might be suspicious at your house or a neighbor’s are asked to call 911 or the Belmont Police Detectives at 617-993- 2550.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
