Police: Driver cited after crashing into Wakefield ambulance

WAKEFIELD, Mass. — No injuries were reported after a car crashed into an ambulance in Wakefield Friday morning.

Officers responding to the area of 721 Main Street around 10:37 a.m. found an Audi SUV had crossed over the double yellow line and struck a Cataldo Ambulance, according to Wakefield Police. The Cataldo Ambulance suffered damage to the rear driver’s side and was towed from the scene, along with the Audi.

Authorities say the ambulance was transporting a patient to Melrose Wakefield Hospital at the time of the accident. Another ambulance arrived on scene and continued to transport the patient.

There were no reports of any injuries as a result of the crash, investigators say.

The driver of the Audi was cited for a marked lanes violation.
