LYNN, Mass. — Police have arrested a suspect for what appears to be an accidental shooting in Lynn Friday night on North Common Terrace.

23-year-old Michael Tate of Lynn is charged with:
•Assault & battery with a dangerous weapon
•Carrying a firearm without a license
•Discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling

Lynn Police confirmed to Boston 25 that a 15-year-old girl was shot in the upper torso but is expected to survive after she was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.
Officials said they arrested one person, Michael Tate, 23, of Lynn, and are not currently pursuing other suspects.
Tate is facing charges for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
The shooting incident remains under investigation at this time.
