Kyrie Irving hit with $50,000 fine for flipping off Celtics fans

NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving has been fined $50,000 for giving the middle finger to Celtics fans during game one of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The NBA hit Irving with the league maximum fine “for making obscene gestures on the playing court and directing profane language toward the spectator stands,” said Byron Spruell, President, League Operations.

Irving made the gestures and comments to fans during the Celtics last-second 115-114 win over the Nets on Easter Sunday.

Game two of the playoffs is Wednesday at the T.D. Garden.
