Get your goat: MSPCA waiving adoption fees for goats this weekend

METHUEN, Mass — The MSCPA at Nevin’s Farm is waiving adoption fees for goats this weekend in order to find a home for 47 of their furry friends.

According to MSPCA-Angvell director of adoption centers and programs Mike Keiley, almost 100 goats were taken from a Dighton property this winter, creating a massive surplus for MSPCA to handle.

“Prior to that, we generally never had more than a couple with us, and they were always adopted quickly,” Keiley says. “We’ve never had a fee-waived adoptathon for goats, but they’ve been successful finding homes for small animals in the past, so we’re employing the same method here in order to get these goats into new loving homes as soon as we can.”

MSPCA says the goats, which consist of many different breeds, should remain in a closed herd.

Goat adoptions typically range from between $150 and $250.

Adopters don’t need any special prior experience with goats, just a willing to learn, the MSPCA says.
