Brazen break in costs Salisbury Boys and Girls Club thousands of dollars worth of auction items

SALISBURY, Mass. — Thieves made off with thousands of dollars worth of auction items from a Salisbury Boys and Girls Club last Sunday, and now the organization is still hoping to reach their fundraising goal.

On June 12, burglars broke into the Boys & Girls Club of Lower Merrimack Valley, breaking multiple windows, doors, and a safe, according Executive Director Jim Keenan.

The vandals took $5,000 worth of scholarship checks, a Go Pro, cameras, 6 Patriots replica Super bowl rings, 6 Celtics championship rings and many other auction items worth thousands of dollars.

“It stinks, but we’ll keep on chugging away,” Keenan said. “We need a good auction after these thieves robbed us blind. We have some good items to choose from.”

The auction is part of the club’s 20th annual Starry Night Spring Charity Auction. Its funds will go directly to Boys and Girls Club members who need financial support.

Salisbury Police say they are actively investigating the break in and are following up on a few leads. No arrest have been made at this time.

“Each year we have more scholarship requests than we have scholarship money for but we have never turned any child away in 20 years to due financial concerns,” said Keenan.
