MATTAPAN, Mass. — A Dorchester man was arrested in Mattapan on Friday night, February 7, on drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop.
Officers patrolling the area of Millet Street noticed a vehicle driving without its headlights on.
Officers initiated a routine traffic stop and pulled the car over, however, the individuals within the vehicle had stated that they could not answer basic questions.
After more questions, officers ordered the individuals to exit the vehicle.
Officers then began to conduct a pat frisk on one of the passengers, but he began to push the officer’s hands away. Officers then tried to place him in handcuffs, but again, resisted.
Officers arrested the individual, Daniel Encarnacion, 20, of Dorchester, and recovered large quantities of narcotics on him. These included 22 plastic bags for a total of 26.3 grams of Heroin and 23 plastic bags for a total of 14.6 grams of crack cocaine. Officers also seized $6,298 in U.S. currency.
Encarnacion was charged with trafficking heroin and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
