A disabled vet from Arlington reunited with stolen truck after it was found in Cambridge

ARLINGTON, Mass. — A veteran in Arlington was reunited with his stolen truck and wheelchair Thursday night after it was located in Cambridge.

“I’m overwhelmed and shaken with the outpouring of support I’ve been receiving, “ says John Versackas, a disabled Army Veteran.

Versackas told Boston 25 News that a tow truck driver found it in Cambridge and his daughter-in-law picked it up for him tonight.

“I just hope my truck will be in good condition when I see it tonight,” says Versackas.

Versackas wife made the discovery after the dogs started making noise in the early morning hours last week. Even for an Army veteran who served in Korea in the 70′s, the sight of his pride and joy gone from his driveway was too much to bear.

“That truck meant the world to me. I feel so violated and in fear of what are they going to do next,” says Versackas.

John had the truck for three years and says it was all paid off. It is his only means of transportation to his Veterans Affairs appointments and to pick up his medication.

“I haven’t been out of the house I feel trapped here now,” Versackas told Boston 25 on Wednesday night.

John says his truck getting stolen was one of a string of car break-ins in the neighborhood. He doesn’t have ill will for whoever stole it, he just wanted it back.
