Cambridge PD says power restored to area where four utility poles fell Friday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Cambridge Police said that power has been fully restored on Washington Street and it has reopened to traffic after four utility poles were knocked down Friday. Nearly 140 people were left without power.

On Saturday, police said that no one was hurt.

Eversource said that two poles came down completely, crushing a few parked cars on the street, while two other poles are leaning.

They said the damage was caused by a car accident, but an Eversource employee said they aren’t completely sure what happened because whoever caused the damage drove off. Cambridge Police also said they aren’t sure yet what happened and that the exact cause remains under investigation.

Crews connected generators until everything was fully restored.
