Marine veteran among 2 killed in Dorchester triple-shooting

BOSTON — Boston Police are investigating an early morning shooting that killed two people and left one person injured in Dorchester.

Ryan Diauto was sleeping at his friend’s house on Melbourne Street in Dorchester when he heard shots fired right outside around 3:00 a.m. Sunday.

“When I was laying down, bullets started hitting the wall and I felt something hit my ankle, so I just rolled over and tucked up,” said Diauto.

Diauto says bullets went through their wall from a shooting at a big party next door. When he walked outside, he saw a young man laying on the ground.

Police said one victim died at the scene and the other died a short time later at an area hospital. A third person suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital to be treated.

“I look outside, I see a lot of people running everywhere more than one hundred people, a lot of people,” said Louis Perez, who lives nearby.

Perez says he was woken up by the gunfire too.

“Ten or twenty shots, bum bum bum, but you know when you hear something like that you go hiding,” said Perez.

Loved ones say one of the victims killed was a 29-year-old marine vet and a father.

While Boston Police are still investigating exactly what happened, it’s been startling for neighbors to witness.

“To see somebody like so young lost his life for no reason, it’s kind of a little rattling,” said Diauto.

No further information is currently available. Police are still investigating the incident. Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact Boston Police Homicide Detectives at (617) 343-4470.

“The shooting earlier this morning in Dorchester is yet another deadly reminder of the perils to our neighborhoods when too many guns are in the hands of too many people willing to pull the trigger anywhere and anytime,” interim Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden said in a statement. “Boston police and my office are doing everything possible to address gun violence but, as I’ve said, again and again, the approach must include all of society.”

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
