19-year-old charged with murder in connection to fatal Lowell shooting

LOWELL, Mass. — A 19-year-old Lowell man was arraigned Friday on multiple charges including murder in connection to the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Nathaniel Fabian on Wednesday.

Timmy Chan is being held without bail.

On Wednesday night, Lowell Police were called to Loring and Westford Street for reports of shots fired. Responding officers found Fabian suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to officials, earlier that night, Fabian was allegedly texting with his ex-girlfriend and several other people, including Chan, about social media posts. Police learned the parties involved arranged to meet in the area where the shooting occurred. After arriving, Chan allegedly shot Fabian before leaving the scene.

Chan is also charged with discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, carrying a firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition.
