All lanes now open on Bourne Bridge as repair work finishes early

BOURNE, Mass. — The Bourne Bridge has fully reopened two weeks ahead of schedule as repair work on the bridge has finished early, the Army Corps of Engineers, New England announced on Friday afternoon.

That work had been ongoing since its start on May 1. All travel lanes were expected to reopen by 3 p.m. Friday afternoon.

“The work was critical to maintaining the structural integrity of the Bourne Bridge,” the Army Corps of Engineers, New England wrote on Friday.

“Work included steel repairs to base structures of light posts, installation of repaired light posts, repairs to the bridge fence, repairs to light brackets, and replacement of conduits, cables and light fixtures.”
