The Class A misdemeanor carries up to one year in jail and a $4,000 fine, according to The Associated Press.
The grand jury reviewed evidence on the charges that Manziel assaulted his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley in January. In the
filed Feb. 3, Crowley said Manziel physically assaulted her and threw her into a car when she begged him not to.
“He grabbed me by the hair and threw me back into the car and got into the car himself,” the affidavit reads. “He hit me with his open hand on my left ear for jumping out of the car.”
KRLD also reported Manziel and Crowley reached an out-of-court settlement. Crowley was also granted a protective order against Manziel that said he must stay away from Crowley until Feb. 3, 2018, pay $12,500 in lawyer fees and cannot possess a firearm during the duration of the restraining order.

Manziel jumped on to the sports world when the former Kerrville Tivy High School product became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy in 2012 with Texas A&M. He played two seasons with the Aggies before being drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2014 following his sophomore season.
Manziel spent two seasons in Cleveland before being released by the Browns earlier this year following two tumultuous years that included a 2015 stint in a rehabilitation center. He was fired by his agent on Tuesday, his second in three months.
