Jet skis, other personal watercraft banned on Merrimack River

Lowell officials debate banning jet skis from portion of Merrimack River

LOWELL, Mass. — Don't expect to see jet skis on the Merrimack River anymore in Lowell.

The city council voted unanimously to ban the vehicles on a busy stretch of the river.

Police say the river is narrow and a ban will help keep the area safe. It bans the use of jet skis and other recreational watercraft in the Lowell canals and on the Merrimack River in the area.
